Why, Why, Why……

Here I sit in Calgary Airport reading my email, not getting home for 9 days.

What do I read..A Thick-billed Kingbird was seen in Presquile Provincial Park…..go figure.  What is a bird from the Arizona/Mexico border doing in Ontario?

Oh, I know why….because I am in Alberta.  I can only pray it sticks around but looking at Doug’s post for today, I am afraid its already gone.

Lots of images coming though, a few of new birds, scenery and of course bugs.

Back on the 8th of September.

Oh Yeah now I know Why!

Little Egret

Last night I got a call from a friend telling me that the ABA.org website had posted that a Code 4 Little Egret, Egretta garzetta, at Côte-Ste-Catherine “récréo parc” in Lachine rapids, near Montreal, Quebec.

Code-4: Casual.
Species not recorded annually in the ABA Checklist Area, but with six or more total records—including three or more in the past 30 years—reflecting some pattern of occurrence.

This morning 3 of us went down to see this great European visitor.  The Little Egret is looks alot like the Snowy Egret, but appears larger, has a longer neck and bill, has black lores.  Leaving at 5am we drove straight to the spot and wow..there it was feeding 50 yards off shore.
