Mahi-mahi or Common Dolphinfish

Mahi-mahi means very strong fish in Hawaiian.  It is a well deserved name.  After 1/2 hour of trying to bring this fish in, 4 very long runs, getting the fish tangled in a lobster trap line and 20 foot swells. I finally saw what was at the other end of the line.

I was the only one who didn’t throw up (thanks Fin for the anti-seasick pill) on board, but believe me I did some heavy praying to the fishing gods, for a very tense hour.  Best thing I heard that morning was “your time is up time to head back”.

I really want to thank, Fin and Martin from Denmark for letting me go along.

I saw 3 birds (tern, shearwater and gull species),  fly by at a distance but it was during my praying moments, and the horizon was all I could focus on.

Another fish species crossed off my bucket list…….
